Oh that does make me so very very homesick for northern weather.

I'm in northeastern Texas now...we got snow for the first time in the 7 years I've lived here last December.
I grew up much further north...and miss it terribly :)

Well...

Let me see...in the summer...

It's not uncommon to see 30 days in a row over 38 ºC

Friends and relatives will offer you crash space in a heartbeat if your A/C goes out. Your apartment complex is likely to put you up in another apartment or a hotel without charge if they need to replace your AC unit. It is against state law to cut your electricity even if you aren't paying at least until the summer ends.

You have several pair of inexpensive sunglasses in your home that don't belong to anyone but were probably left by someone who visited, and which you will cheerfully offer to anyone who says "I forgot my sunglasses."

You make certain you have at least a gallon of water in your trunk before going anywhere "outside the city," and you make sure multiple people know where you are headed.

You hang heavy curtains or install doors between rooms and halls that need to be cooled for comfort and those that can be left at higher temperatures.

You avoid being outside between 11am and 2pm if possible. And if the dog simply must pop out for a pee, you wet down his fur for the walk -- he'll be dry in the 15 minutes it takes you to go out and back.

You bake cookies in a pan on the dashboard of your car on your lunch hour (not kidding, the men at the warehouse for my husband's work do this all the time).

You don't keep *anything* plastic (sunglasses, umbrellas, CDs) in your car because the heat will destroy them.

You can walk up to an absolute stranger's house and ask for a drink of water and almost *never* be refused. If it's around noon, most will offer to let you into the foyer so you can cool off, some will offer to drive you to your destination so you don't have to keep walking.

If you see a child sitting alone in a car that isn't running, you don't wait to see how long it takes the adult to come back, you immediately begin looking for the adult of the child, or call 911.

If you are outside more than 10 minutes and you aren't sweating or you've stopped sweating - you go inside, and drink a *big* glass of water.

Wow - beautiful! The capture itself is decent but it is a shame that the photo quality is as low as it is. This is quite the remarkable scene, and you are very lucky to have been able to be in the midst of it.
